Our church has enjoyed a vibrant presence in downtown Greenfield for more than 200 years! We celebrate our history and love for our town by hosting a community-wide Bee Festival. This year it is being held on Saturday, May 23rd, 2020 starting at 9:30 a.m. and going until 12:30 p.m. This will be out 11th Annual event!
Why a Bee Festival? The former pastor of this church, Lorenzo Langstroth, developed the moveable frame beehive and wrote The Hive And The Honey Bee – the most important overview of bee-keeping that is still in print today. Rev. Langstroth is known around the world as ‘The Father of American Bee Keeping’ so we like to keep that heritage alive.
Our Langstroth Bee Fest is our church’s gift to the people of Greenfield and Franklin county. It is a time for kids to learn about honeybees, other pollinators, and nature in general. It is also a time for adults to learn what they can do to improve pollinator health in their yards, which helps us all improve our vital connection to food.
Each year’s Bee Festival has fun and games, educational forums and speakers, a community parade and gift baskets. If you have been fascinated by bees, or are curious about what it takes to keep bees as a family project, this is the event for you! Mark those calendars early and often and make sure to join us!

Here’s a great article the Boston Globe did on the 2017 Bee Fest with Former Governor Deval Patrick (who is a bee keeper!). Hope to see you at the next one or in the future.
