Affiliated with the historic United Church of Christ, Second Congregational Church of Greenfield is a progressive and growing Christian faith community. While there is diversity of thoughts and views in our church family, we share a great many common values and beliefs that are generally considered to be part of ‘progressive Christianity.’

— We believe that God’s family includes all people. We are committed to the belief that all people are created equal before God, and that the love of Jesus Christ is inclusive.

— We believe we have a responsibility and role to play in caring for the environment, standing in solidarity with those  marginalized by society, and working with all who yearn for a better world.

— We believe that common goods in our society like education, access to health care, and defending civil liberties are vital to people’s dream of living an abundant life. We believe that this is the desire of God for all people, and that such things are grounded in the Christian faith and aligned with its practice.

— We believe that truth is found most often in the honest grappling with the questions of faith and life rather than with absolutist or hierarchical pronouncements of the ‘correct’ answers.

At our church, not everyone agrees on everything. And that’s just fine with us.
