Your First Sunday
10:00 a.m. Worship Service
(Childcare for ages 5 and younger is available).
When people are looking for a new church, most like to get a sense of things by coming to the weekly worship service. Sunday mornings are the center and heartbeat of our community’s life. Our church continually strives to make a positive impact on people and families inside the church and out in the surrounding neighborhoods. Sunday morning is the time for us to gather together to grow in faith, to be with one another in community, and to discern where we might serve others in the world.
Part of our mission as a church family is to welcome new people into our community. We are a healthy and safe community. We never resort to shame, guilt, or religious manipulation, so there’s no need to worry about any of that kind of stuff. There is a lot of great stuff happening around here that we are proud of and we simply invite people to participate as they like. On Sundays you will see smiling faces as people welcome you, you will experience great music in a number of genres, and hear thoughtful sermons that center on Jesus and his teachings of compassion. Don’t worry; we don’t accost new people like some churches do. We know folks like space and time. Just know we’re here and happy to answer any questions you may have.
On Sundays, you can also participate in an adult education program, learn more about upcoming community service projects, and make some new friends at our coffee hour (immediately following worship). We know that most folks like to just sneak in to worship, get a quick sense of things, and head out. That’s totally fine too. We’ve been there. Just know that you are 100% welcome to be part of anything we do. We’ll never ask you to stand up and introduce yourself, ask excessive personal questions, or pester you to sign up for things. We’re pretty chill.
Below are a few quick things you might want to know, but feel free to browse our more detailed FAQ page. If you have additional questions, feel free to call, email, or even stop by during our office hours. Really. That’s why we are here.
The information below is relevant to future services and events in our church building. We hope to reopen our church building in the summer or fall of 2021.
Getting Here
Feel free to park wherever you like. You may park on the side of the church and come in the big red front doors at the front. There is parking in the public lot behind the church (which is free on Sundays), or you may park out in front of the church on the street (also free on Sundays). When you come inside there will be someone there to greet you, hand you a worship bulletin, and answer any questions you may have.
Being Here
You may sit wherever you like. During our worship service we sing hymns, listen to the choir, or have other special musical offerings. We have silent prayers and unison prayers (e.g. The Lord’s Prayer), and prayers that name the joys and concerns of our lives. We listen to the ancient stories of the faith to hear how God was experienced by the early people of our traditions. We hear a sermon aimed to teach, challenge, and transform us by relating the ancient stories to our modern lives. On some Sundays (usually the first Sunday of the month), we celebrate the sacrament of communion. You are invited to participate in all facets of worship as you feel comfortable. If you would just like to sit quietly, and take it all in, that’s totally fine as well.
Meeting Here
After the worship gathering, you have an opportunity to meet some folks from our church family, say hello to our pastor, or learn a bit more about what is happening in the life of our church. You can hang out in the sanctuary or join us for our coffee hour in the Parish Hall. We know these kinds of social situations can feel a little awkward for new guests, so just know that we’d be more than happy to meet you. And we hope you’ll stay in touch with us afterwards. All our contact info is on the back of our worship bulletin, so take it with you, and don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything we can do for you.
