Rev. Sherril Willis, Bridge Minister
Rev. Sherril is serving as Bridge Minister of Second Congregational Church as we complete our search process for a new lead minister. Leading worship and providing essential pastoral care for the congregation, she brings 20 years of ordained ministry experience to the role and was previously a long-time elementary school educator. A graduate of Andover Newton Theological School, she has served as a youth pastor to a church school, and in several pulpit supply, interim, and bridge pastor roles throughout the Pioneer Valley.
Michael Pfitzer, Minister of Music
Mike has a wealth of church and community choral experience, and alongside his work at Second Congregational Church he serves as Choral Director at Deerfield Academy. He completed his doctorate in Conducting at the Boston University College of Fine Arts; his master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Music in Madsion; and his undergraduate degree in Music and History at Tufts University. Prior to starting at Deerfield in 2021, he had taught at the University of Albany, Framingham State, Boston University, and Harvard. He served as Director of Music at the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton for nine years and has led community choruses of 50-150 members in the Boston and Cambridge area.
Dorothy Claire Glover, Organist/Pianist
Dorothy Claire is an accomplished pianist, organist, and educator, with a passion for building community through music. She has been a choir director and organist for churches in Massachusetts and Mississippi, and presently teaches piano at Glover Piano Studio in South Deerfield and at Deerfield Academy. Dorothy Claire earned her bachelor’s degree in Music at Bellhaven University in Jackson, MS, and completed post-graduate studies in piano and organ at the Golandksy Institute in Berkeley, CA.
Cheryl Kieffer, Church Administrator
Cheryl manages the church office and coordinates internal communications, including publication of the Weekly Reader. She also manages building usage and rental arrangements, welcomes people who come to the church seeking assistance, trouble-shoots technology issues as possible, and otherwise applies her love of research and problem-solving to helping keep the church running smoothly. This is the third congregation Cheryl has served as a church administrator/secretary, which is work she came to following several years as a stay-at-home mom and before that as a fisheries biologist. Cheryl earned degrees in Zoology and Fisheries Biology.
