Our church has enjoyed a vibrant presence in downtown Greenfield for almost 200 years. As a way to celebrate our history and love for our town, we host a community-wide Bee Fest. This year it is being held on Saturday, June 3rd 2017 (9:30 am – 12:00 noon). Why a Bee Festival? A former pastor of this church, Lorenzo Langstroth, developed the moveable frame beehive and wrote The Hive And The Honey Bee – the most important overview of bee-keeping that is still in print today. Langstroth is called, ‘The Father of American Bee Keeping.’
Our Langstroth Bee Fest is our gift to the people of the Greenfield area. It is a time for kids to learn about honeybees, other pollinators, and nature in general. It is also a time for adults to learn what they can do to improve pollinator health ideas in their yards, helping improve our vital connection to food, or consider keeping bees as a family project!
Each year’s Bee Festival has fun and games, educational forums and speakers, a community parade and gift baskets. Mark those calendars early and often and make sure to join us!
